BIOALPHA Holdings Berhad continues to strengthen its position as a global player in the OEM, ODM and CDMO health product manufacturing sector as the company recorded impressive growth in cultivation operations and exports of Misai Kucing herb to international markets, particularly South Korea.
The publicly listed company announced that the annual export capacity of Misai Kucing has now reached approximately 10 metric tonnes (MT) and is expected to increase to 20MT within the next two years following growing global demand for tropical herb-based health products.
The growth is driven by Bioalpha's integrated supply chain model that encompasses the entire process from cultivation to production of finished goods, in addition to strict compliance with halal certification standards and international production standards.
Bioalpha Executive Director Joe Ang said the company is now focusing on developing exclusive formulations and comprehensive technical support to help international partners strengthen their product market entry strategies.
According to her, Bioalpha has developed more than 500 exclusive formulations over more than 20 years of involvement in the ODM manufacturing sector and health products.
For Misai Kucing cultivation, the company began standardized planting in 2012 before expanding international export activities in 2018.
"We not only provide manufacturing services, but also offer market analysis, research and development (R&D) and technical support to ensure the products produced meet the needs of global consumers," she said in a statement on Thursday.
In an effort to strengthen raw material quality control, Bioalpha operates its own cultivation operations for key herbs including Misai Kucing, Tongkat Ali and Soursop.

All of Bioalpha's Misai Kucing plants are now self-cultivated and certified under Malaysian Good Agricultural Practices (MYGAP).
Bioalpha also operates dedicated cultivation areas of approximately 100 acres, comprising 30 acres in Pasir Raja and 70 acres in Desaru, to ensure a stable, high-quality and traceable supply of raw materials.
The South Korean market is seen as a key driver of the company's export growth as Bioalpha has established direct partnerships with several major brand owners in the country through non-disclosure agreements (NDA), as well as acting as a key supplier of raw materials and finished products.
At the same time, the company is optimistic that demand for halal and herb-based nutraceutical products will continue to grow, in line with increasing global consumer awareness of health and wellness.
For the record, Bioalpha Holdings Berhad is a Malaysia-based nutraceutical and health product manufacturing company that provides integrated solutions covering product development, manufacturing and commercialization for domestic and international markets.
